Stepping outside your comfort zone can be daunting. I know all too well how scary it can be to push those comfort boundaries. After all, it is so easy to stay inside a safety bubble filled with family, friends, and surroundings where you are at ease.
However, what I have learned recently is that it is so important to get out of your comfort zone. It is essential not only on a personal level but also a professional level. Honestly, the two go hand in hand. The more you push your comfort zone on a personal level, the more it will benefit you on a professional level and vice versa.
Anyone who owns a business is aware that its growth is based on you getting its name and purpose out into the world. To achieve that, you have to get out of your comfort zone, which can mean attending events where you don't know a single person, getting involved in a network group or simply being more active on social media.
Whatever your approach is, chances are you will be doing at least one thing out of your comfort zone. The end result though will be a successful business with amazing new contacts. Plus, you never know who you will connect with on a personal level as you are growing your business. A new friend, a new roommate or even a possible love connection can happen while you are pushing your comfort zone for your business.
There is a saying that if you want different results than you have to try something different. Well, that applies 100% to stepping outside your comfort zone. If you stay in your bubble, then you are limiting the amazing business results and personal growth you can achieve.
I am sure you all understand the importance of pushing your comfort limits, but it is easier said than done. My suggestion is that you focus on one thing at a time. You will be surprised how quickly what you feared becomes less scary. For me that was volunteering and attending a networking event last fall solo, not knowing a single person. I am painfully shy, so doing this so was outside my comfort zone. I even had a little anxiety.
However, months later thanks to that one night, I have now met several incredible women in business. I also met Kimberley Bueno, who founded WE of Hudson County and asked me to be part of this fantastic leadership team. I have gained a new platform to showcase my writing while attending events to network and make new friends. Although I am still timid at times at events, I am more aware of it and instead of retreating push myself to talk to even one new person. Stepping outside my comfort zone that one time has continues to benefit me personally and professionally.
There is no one size fits all for expanding your comfort zone. Do what is best for you but keep trying! And of course, keep coming to WE of Hudson County Events, our goal is to help you meet new people in a comfortable, safe and fun environment.
