How to Make Great First Impression at Your Networking Meeting

Smile. Being friendly and personable. When meeting new people and making connections you want to put your best foot forward. Put on a smile and be excited to meet new people and be there.

Listen and be genuinely interested in people. People can tell when you are being fake and not interested in hearing what they have to say. When networking with new people be interested in who they are and what they have to say in order to make a true connection.

Be aware of your body language. Body language speaks volumes, even more than your words. Maintain an open posture, with your shoulders back and your head up you will look more approachable and welcoming. Make eye contact with the person you are talking to will help build to build trust. Mirror the body language of the person you are talking to help connect you with the person and stand with your feet facing towards the person you are speaking to.

Speak clearly and confidently. When meeting someone new be sure to take time to speak clearly to the person you are meeting. Talk slowly and loud enough for the person to hear you and understand what you are saying. Speak with confidence and have your elevator pitch down so that you know exactly how to explain your business and who you serve.
